Protection against Water
In recent years, the frequency and magnitude of flooding have increased and caused significant damages. This is likely to increase in the future as a consequence of climate change.
The Swiss protection strategy encompasses hazard mapping, providing space for rivers, minimizing damages (e.g. maintenance of flood protection structures), emergency planning (forecasts, alarm system, etc.), and compulsory insurance.
